Review a Permit Extension Request

Approve or reject a request to extend permit validity after reviewing current conditions.

Role: Permit Authorizer or Issuer with extension permission. Platform: Web.

When a Permit Requester asks for more time on a permit, the permit status changes to Extension Requested. As the Issuer, review the request and decide whether to approve it, or reject it. You can review requests for more than one permit at the same time.

To review an extension request:

  1. Open EHS → Permits and go to the My Permits tab.
  2. Click the Extension Requested filter.
The list shows the permits that require extension approval.
  3. Select the pending extension request permit.
  4. To review more than one permit, select them from the list. Each permit opens in its own tab at the top of the screen
  5. Review the current and requested validity, reason, work status, JHA, site conditions, isolations, atmospheric evidence, and conflicting work.
  6. Click Take Action. The Permit Extension window opens.
  7. Change the dates in Suggest Alternative Date and Time to allow a different end time.
  8. Do one of the following:
    • Click Approve to approve the request.
    • To reject the request, enter the reason in the Comment box, and then click Reject.
  • If you approve, the message Permit Extension approved successfully appears, and the permit validity is updated to the new end time.
  • If you reject, the banner shows Rejected request.
