Part I: Understand iPermits
Understand iPermits roles, permissions, lifecycle stages, and the Web and Mobile screens used for each action.
Part II: Raise and Plan Permits
Raise work-order-linked or standalone permits, complete required planning information, and submit them for review.

Review, authorize, validate, issue, hold, resume, or reject permits according to the active lifecycle role.

- Execute an Operation-Level Permit
  On Mobile, claim the operation, acknowledge the permit, complete required controls, perform the work, and surrender the permit.
  - Scan Permit Using QR Code
    Scan a QR code from a printed or digital permit to quickly access and open the permit in the mobile application without manual search.
  - Claim or Select the Operation
    Open the issued permit and claim the operation you will perform.
  - Acknowledge a Permit
    Answer the mandatory acknowledgement questions before starting permitted work.
  - Add Supporting Personnel
    Add additional personnel to the operation if the permitted work requires them.
  - Validate PPE and Required Controls
    Confirm the configured PPE and safety controls before beginning permitted work.
  - Start and Perform the Work
    Start the operation and perform the work under the conditions stated on the permit.
  - Hold Work
    Pause permitted work when conditions no longer support safe execution.
  - End the Work
    End the operation after the permitted work is complete, then surrender the permit to the Issuer.
  - Surrender the Permit
    Once the permitted work is complete, surrender the permit to release it back to the Issuer.
- Execute a Work-Order-Level Permit Without Operations
  Acknowledge, execute, and surrender a permit linked directly to a work order that has no operations.
- Execute a Standalone Permit
  Perform permitted work that is tracked by an external reference rather than an iMaintenance work order.
- Complete Permit Forms and Safety Checks
  During execution, complete each configured permit form and atmospheric check before the workflow can advance.
- Close the Permit
  Review and formally close a permit after work is completed and surrendered.
Part V: Create and Manage JHAs
Create a JHA, assign the field team, acknowledge hazards and controls, and approve or return the JHA.
Part VI: Monitor and Audit
Monitor permit expiry and extensions, review retained evidence, access archives, and resolve execution or synchronization issues.
Part VII: Design and Configure (Administrator / Template Author)
Design and publish Permit, JHA, and Form templates and configure the list views shown to users.

Scan Permit Using QR Code

Scan a QR code from a printed or digital permit to quickly access and open the permit in the mobile application without manual search.

Role: Permit Holder / Technician. Platform: iMaintenance Mobile.

To scan the QR code:

Open the iPermits mobile application.
Use the scanner functionality available in the app.

Scan the QR code displayed on the permit.

The permit opens directly in the application, allowing you to view details and proceed with actions such as acknowledgement or execution.
Note:
QR code is available in the permit PDF generated from the Web application after the Authorization stage.
Note:
QR Scan access depends on the permissions assigned to your role:
- If you don't have any QR Scan permission, the scanner option won't appear on your Home screen.
- With View permission, you can see permit details via QR Scan but can't acknowledge
- With Add Acknowledgement permission, you can acknowledge the permit directly from the QR Scan workflow.

The permitted record opens with the view or acknowledgement actions allowed for the user’s role.
