Recover from a Failed Synchronization

Work through a record that is still waiting in the Outbox after connectivity returns, using the message the application records against it.

Work through the record in order. The validation or posting message recorded against it is what tells you which part of the record to correct.

  1. Restore connectivity.
  2. Run Manual Sync.
  3. Review the records shown as Pending, Syncing, Failed, or Synchronized.

A work order can appear as one consolidated Outbox record while its operations, components, forms, issues, or measurements are synchronized. The current activity shown against the record indicates which part is being processed.

  4. Open a failed record and review the validation or posting message recorded against it.
  5. Correct the underlying record and retry synchronization.
  6. Escalate unresolved SAP, permission, or server errors.
    Warning:
Do not delete the pending local record while unsynchronized work remains. Do not sign out, uninstall the application, or clear application data either — the queued work is stored on the device.

After synchronization succeeds, return to the pending work record and continue the task. Resolve any item that remains in the Outbox before completing or closing the work.

Preparation before going offline, and what the application can and cannot do while offline, are covered in Work Offline and Synchronize Data.

Next: Continue the task you were working on.
