Preface
This guide is for Supervisors and Round Planners who use the mRounds web application. It explains the conventions, related information, and support contacts used throughout the guide.
Overview of mRounds
As a Supervisor or Round Planner, use mRounds to design inspection work, schedule and assign rounds, monitor execution, review findings, and hand over the shift.
Log in to the Web Application
Sign in to the mRounds web application using the method configured by your organization. Your permissions determine which planning, monitoring, approval, and administration options appear.
Find Your Way Around the Web Application
Use the web application modules to plan rounds, schedule work, monitor execution, manage findings, review reports, and prepare shift handovers.
Accept the Shift Handover Report
As the incoming Supervisor, review and accept the previous shift’s handover before taking ownership of open rounds, exceptions, Issues, Actions, notes, and attachments.
Assess and Monitor the Shift
Use the dashboards together to understand compliance, identify exceptions, review workload, and open the rounds, Issues, or Actions that need attention.
Create and Prepare a Round Plan
Create a round plan by choosing the best starting method, defining its scope, building the Operator workflow, validating the mobile experience, and preparing it for approval and scheduling.
- Create a Round Plan
  Create the round plan that defines the inspection purpose, plant, route, assets, and tasks Operators will execute. Save it as Draft until the content is ready for review.
- Add Locations, Assets, Sections, and Tasks
  Build the field experience by selecting locations and assets, organizing pages and sections, and adding the tasks Operators must complete.
- Choose and Configure Response Types
  Choose the field that matches the information an Operator must record, and use the detailed response-type topics only when configuring that field.
  - Choose the Right Response Type
    Choose a response type based on the information the Operator must provide, such as a confirmation, reading, location, attachment, selection, or signature.
  - Scan
    Use the Scan response type when an Operator must verify an asset or capture a barcode or QR value before continuing the task.
  - Geo Location
    Use Geo Location when the task must capture the Operator device’s coordinates as evidence that the work was performed at the required place.
  - Instructions
    Use Instructions to place safety information, preparation steps, or task guidance directly in the Operator’s workflow before a response is entered.
  - Text Answer
    Use Text Answer when Operators need to describe a condition or observation that cannot be captured by a fixed choice or simple confirmation.
  - Number
    Use Number for measurable readings such as pressure, temperature, vibration, or level. Configure units, ranges, history, and measuring-point integration as required.
  - Read Only Field
    Use a Read Only Field to show reference information that Operators need during the inspection but must not change.
  - Hyperlink
    Use Hyperlink to give Operators direct access to an external manual, safety sheet, drawing, or other supporting resource.
  - Slider
    Use Slider when Operators should choose a value from a defined continuous range rather than type the number manually.
  - Date Range
    Use Date Range when a task must capture a start and end date for an activity, condition, or inspection period.
  - Date and Time
    Use Date and Time when Operators must record a date, a time, or both, such as the next service date or an observed event time.
  - Checkbox
    Use Check box when Operators need to confirm that a specific condition, instruction, or completion statement is true.
  - Attachment
    Use Attachment when a task requires supporting evidence such as a photo, video, audio file, or document.
  - Multiple Choice
    Use Multiple Choice when Operators must select from a small set of predefined conditions or outcomes.
  - Global Picklist
    Use Global Picklist when the same controlled list must be reused across plans, such as manufacturers, failure types, or standardized conditions.
  - Signature
    Use Signature when the task requires a person to acknowledge, authorize, or confirm completion with a captured signature.
- Conditional Logic
  Use conditional logic to show follow-up tasks, hide irrelevant tasks, or trigger configured outcomes based on an Operator’s response.
- Preview and Send a Round Plan for Approval
  Preview the round as an Operator will see it before requesting approval. This helps catch missing tasks, confusing guidance, wrong units, or poor mobile flow.
Review and Approve Round Plans
Review the plan before publication, record the approval decision, and use workflow configuration or audit history only when those administrative tasks are required.
Schedule and Assign Round Plans
Schedule a published round plan to define when rounds are generated, when they are due, and which Operators or groups receive the work.
Investigate Rounds That Need Attention
Investigate overdue, skipped, partly open, or exception-flagged rounds to understand what happened and route the finding to the correct follow-up process.
Choose an Issue, an Action, or an ERP Notification
Choose the follow-up record that matches the finding, then track it through ownership, progress, resolution, or enterprise maintenance processing.
Hand Over Your Shift
End the shift by reviewing the operational record, adding the required context, submitting the report, and making it available to the incoming Supervisor.
Configure Dashboards and Reports
Create reusable dashboards and reports when the standard shift views do not provide the combination of metrics or detail the organization needs.
Find Rounds, Issues, and Actions
Use search when you know identifying details for a record, and apply filters when you need to narrow a larger list of round plans, scheduled rounds, Issues, or Actions.
Troubleshoot Common Problems
Use this guidance when planning, approval, scheduling, monitoring, reporting, or handover behavior does not match what you expect.

Use these occasional configuration and governance tasks to control templates, permissions, email delivery, handover setup, and retained content outside the daily shift workflow.

Response types define what Operators see and how they record each result. They are reference material within the authoring flow; you do not need to read every response-type topic before building the plan.

Keep the mobile flow clear

Pages break a long round into manageable stages.
Sections group related tasks for an asset, location, system, or activity.
Tasks describe one clear check, reading, confirmation, or evidence requirement.
Response types define how the Operator records the result.

Organize these elements in the order the Operator will perform the physical inspection.

Use the response-type references

Start with Choose the Right Response Type.
Open only the detailed topic for the response type needed by the current task.
Configure the field and return to the round plan to continue adding or reviewing tasks.
If the response must show follow-up tasks or trigger a configured outcome, continue to Conditional Logic.

When the tasks and logic are complete, continue to Preview and Send a Round Plan for Approval.
